Frequently Asked Questions
Here are answers to the most common concerns couples have before starting the Sacred Separations™ process.
How is mediation different from hiring divorce lawyers?
Mediation is a collaborative process where both parties work with a neutral guide instead of battling in court. It’s faster, less expensive, and keeps the focus on solutions rather than conflict.
How much does mediation cost?
The standard Sacred Separations™ package is $3,000, typically split between both parties. This covers the intake session, live mediation, agreements, and post-mediation support a fraction of what a contested divorce would cost.
Is everything really done online?
Yes. All sessions are held virtually via secure Zoom. This allows couples to participate privately from their own space without travel or courtroom stress.
What if we don’t agree on everything during mediation?
That’s normal. Dr. Valentine provides structure and proven conflict-resolution techniques to help you reach common ground. Even partial agreements can save time and reduce court involvement.
Are the agreements legally binding?
Yes. You’ll receive a court-ready Marital Settlement Agreement (MSA) and, if needed, a Parenting Agreement. These can be filed with the court to finalize your divorce.
What if I still need legal advice?
Mediators are neutral and cannot provide legal representation. However, you’re free to have an attorney review your agreements before filing, and many clients do so for added peace of mind.
